Broadway Bods is thrilled to announce the world premiere of "RASCALS," a brand-new comedy set in a Brooklyn dump. The play written by Tori Anderson & Pat Reilly will be performed on December 6, 7, 12, and 13, 2024 at the appropriately-named location of another famous city animal, The Rat NYC.
"RASCALS" is a devised clowning theatre piece about two lazy raccoons in a Brooklyn dump who just want to watch the sunset on the river, but after killing the king of raccoons end up in King Lear. The show follows a community of fun-loving raccoons find food, friends, and foes as the next king ascends, and a pair of taunting seagulls who circle overhead, seeking out any opportunity to poach a snack or stir up trouble.
The show will star Christopher Morucci (He/They) as Ferry, Alexandra Hess (She/Her) as Staten/Verrazano, Sierra Jackson (She/They) as Island/Kosciuszko, LaRena Iocco (She/Her) as Koch, Joyah Dominique (She/They) as Sheepshead, Benjamin Snyder (He/They) as G, Yona Balbirona (They/Them) as Carcass, Tori Anderson (She/Her) as Hula Hoop, and Pat Reilly as Big Guy (He/They). Together, this talented ensemble brings to life a story filled with lil guys who love garbage.
“Growing up in Brooklyn, I was surprised by the amount of raccoons I’d see. This is hopefully a fun look in their furry lives,” says Pat Reilly. Co-creator Tori Anderson adds “Some raccoons used to eat the food I left out for the stray cats so I started going out to get it and yelling “sir! Sir! May I ask you a question! Please! The people want to know!” The bit was only between me and these raccoons but probably some of my strongest work.”
Tickets for RASCALS are on sale now. Tickets are available by visiting broadwaybods.com/links, with prices starting at $15. Performances will run on December 6, 7, 12, and 13, 2024 at 8pm at The Rat NYC, 68-117 Jay Street, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
The Rat NYC is a theater, bar and burrow in Brooklyn. Located in the heart of Dumbo, it is the newest performance space in Brooklyn.
Founded by Grace Rosehill in 2021, Broadway Bods is NYC’s first fat-positive theatre nonprofit company committed to fighting size stigma and fatphobia in the performing arts industry. Too often, artists are dismissed because of what they look like, instead of the talent they bring to the table. It's time we showcase diverse experiences and stories with diverse bodies.
