Jackson Greenberg celebrates the release of his fascinating new album “The Things We Pass On Through Our Genes” in a double release show presented by cmntx records. Greenberg is a rare hybrid: an avant-garde experimentalist who’s also an award-winning Hollywood TV + film composer.
On “The Things We Pass On Through Our Genes,” Greenberg radically transforms recordings of earlier work via real-time analog effects in a meditation on memory. For this show, Alex Gray of cmntx will electronically manipulate a live string quartet for Greenberg’s piece “The Latter Years,” which explores themes of inherited trauma, and how that carries from generation to generation.
The show will also celebrate the release of Emanuel Ayvas’ atmospheric new album AMMA, and feature composer Fritz Myers, who will be premiering a set of songs with new string quartet orchestrations.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church is at 3 West 65th Street, New York, NY.
