ANGELS AT WORK Set To Return To NYC In 2024
Are you ready to relive all the angelic joy of 'Angels at Work'? This delightful original musical comedy is coming back to New York stages. Directed by Makie Armstrong, the musical is about angels who are sent on missions to help lonely insecure, people act on their feelings to find love.
The show is produced by The World Voice Ensemble, a theater company whose mission is to show diversity on stage. This show, written by Japanese playwright Kuniki Ebihara, was revised and translated into English by co-writers Jerel and Makie Armstrong, the president and vice president of The World Voice Ensemble. Music was written by Makie & Jerel Armstrong and Paul Johnson.
Jerel Armstrong states, "I'd like to think of this piece as a zany love story that at times has a modern-day 'Mid Summer Night's Dream' vibe to it. It's also packed with 24 catchy musical numbers, many of which were written to teach some of the universal laws."
The show was first performed at the Kraine Theater in 2018, then proceeded to participate in the known fringe festival – New York New Works at Theater Row. It is a unique production featuring acting, movement, original music and performance by international actors from Japan, Israel and more.
Previous audiences of the show will be thrilled to hear that Adi Schor will be returning to her leading role of Woman 1 in the show. "I am beyond excited that this show is back on track," says Schor, "I absolutely love our creative team and I truly believe this show deserves its comeback." Since the show first premiered, Adi has developed her artistic range, created, produced and directed a show called 'New York Doesn't Care' that is performed regularly in the national theater of Israel – Habima, and has achieved great publication. You can expect to see her in multiple productions in NYC in addition to the 'Angels at Work' run, including multiple productions by The Israeli Artists Project, such as 'Best Friends' and 'iDiva'.
Rehearsals are expected to begin starting April 2024, performance dates and further details will be published soon.
The Kraine Theater is at 85 E 4th St. New York, NY , New York, NY.
