Workshop:Creating Physical Theatre
Kallo Collective
September 21 - 22, 2013
Workshop leaders are Jenni Kallo, Sampo Kurppa and Thom Monckton.
Physical Theatre Workshop involves contemporary mime, applied mask (no mask), mimicry, object manipulation, and Lecoq based theatrical tools. This introduction to physical theatre creation covers articulation of the body, interactions with each other, puppetry of bodies and objects, and physical presence in movement and space. Participants will learn how to isolate their movements, inhabit their own body, and devise dynamic original and highly physical creations. We will look at ourselves from a new perspective and discover our unique tics and physical eccentricities, working out how these fit in with other people and other objects.
9/21 from 10am to 4pm 9/22 from 10am to 4pm $225 for both days
Performances:
In the Boudoir
by Summer Shapiro
Matters of the heart can be messy and In the Boudoir delights in making a mess. New York comedienne Summer Shapiro returns to the Brick for her fifth time with this deceptively simple story of a young female clown?s love life. Veering erratically and erotically between exactitude and befuddlement, control and rashness, beauty and broken, Shapiro plays with the consuming need to be liked and revels in the futility of such a hunger.
