What if a gay woman, gay man, and straight woman had equal stage time to muse on sex, identity, and dating? Fed up with the predominantly straight-white-male perspectives on life and sex, Veronica Elizabeth, Kenny Neal, and Alyssa Wolff dreamed up the Gay/Straight Alliance: an LGBT-friendly comedy show that breaks down barriers, exposing the fact that basically, we're all awful, regardless of orientation.
This popular monthly show is held at the historic Stonewall Inn (how the Stonewall Riots got their name) in New York City. Veronica, Kenny, and Alyssa are proud to present their sardonic stand-up comedy showcase as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Join them as they explore dating, sex, gender, and identity at the Phoenix Bar on 46-48 Broughton Street at midnight from August 19th-26th. Admission is free!
*Gay/Straight Alliance will hold a free special preview at the Stonewall Inn on Friday July 27th, 2012. Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8:00pm.*
Veronica Elizabeth has been delighting audiences in New York and on the road-in 2012, she was featured at the Cape Fear Comedy Festival and Dallas Comedy Festival. Her solo performance work has been showcased at the PIT (People's Improv Theatre).
Bored of being just another gay, Kenny Neal is an actor, writer and comedian dedicated to dispelling stereotypes and proving that straights and gays are equally ridiculous. Besides appearances as a standup comic at Gotham, Broadway and New York Comedy Clubs in New York City, Kenny is the perennial host of "Comedy Anomaly" in Manhattan's Lower East Side and also co-wrote and starred in End of the Trail" at the NYC Frigid Festival.
A Harvard graduate, Alyssa is a writer and stand-up comedian who has performed all over New York at Gotham, Broadway and New York Comedy Clubs, Stand-Up New York, the TriBeCa Comedy Lounge, as well as on the road, and co-produces the "Comedy Anomaly" show at Fontana's Bar.
In August of 2012, Gay/Straight Alliance will premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival from Aug. 19th-26th. The show will be held nightly at the Phoenix Bar on 46-48 Broughton Street, and admission is free.
