Emerging Artists Theatre, Paul Adams, Artistic Director and Derek Jamison, Associate Artistic Director, present Guido Girl by Marianne Ferrari, produced by Agustine Welles, at TADA Theatre, beginning October 6. The production is directed by EAT member TRoy Miller.

Guido Girl is a coming-of-age memoir about a young woman’s desire to get out of the Bronx!  From the deck of the Andrea Doria, to the lights of Broadway, she struggles to realize her destiny and follow her dreams, complete with all the accessories any girl could ever dream of - music, love, sex, ambition, tanning, make-up and boys.

Says Marianne Ferrari, "Right after 9/11, I was in Los Angeles feeling sorry for myself.  I thought of my parents…their destiny, their surviving World War II.  My destiny.  You see, my parents met and fell in love on the Andrea Doria.  The Andrea Doria, the ship that was struck by the Stockholm off the coast of Nantucket and went down in the Atlantic Ocean on July 25, 1956.  My parents pulled into New York Harbor on the beautiful Andrea Doria a year to The Day Before it sank - July 25, 1955.  A year to the day!  Why then?  Why not a year later?  My parents had a story and, yes, me too.  I wrote the first thought that came to mind - Guido Girl dreams…”

Guido Girl features musical direction and arrangements by Peter Saxe and lighting by Jennifer Granrud.

Marianne Ferrari most recently workshopped Guido Girl at Prospect Theater Company’s Dark Night Series @ the Hudson Guild Theatre, and also recently played Mrs. Warren Mrs. Warren's Profession at 78 Street Theatre Lab.  Marianne has appeared in numerous theatrical productions in New York, Los Angeles, and regionally, including three seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.  Most recent TV credit:  “Without a Trace” and other TV and Film credits.  She is a proud member of Actors Collaborative and is a long-time student of Larry Moss.

TRoy Miller holds a Master's of Fine Arts in Directing from Trinity Rep in Providence, Rhode Island and is a proud associate member of Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers and Emerging Artists Theater. Mr. Miller has focused his work on the development of new plays with playwrights; working on such plays as Bathroom Humor (Craig Lucas), Stranger (Craig Lucas), Horatio (Isabelle Assante), Postcards From a Dead Dog (FJ Hartland) and Ruby's Story (Ron Osborne). Mr. Miller got his theatrical start as an actor/dancer and pursued that ambition until a chance opportunity to direct his first play in 1995.

Emerging Artists Theatre provides a dynamic home for playwrights and artists to develop their work from an idea to fully realized production.  In the past 16 years, Emerging Artists has premiered over 275  new works and also: garnered a Drama desk nomination; received the American Theatre Wing award for Commitment to Excellence in Theatre;  and named Best Off Off Broadway Theatre Company in NYC for Actors To Work With by Backstage Magazine.  In the last 5 years alone, Emerging Artists has provided opportunities for over 1500 diverse artists (who did not have the resources themselves) to see their work developed and premiered.
