A SEX THING Opens Tonight at The Brick

Why is it so hard to just ask for what we want? Playwright Kati Frazier and director Corinne Woods propose a few answers, and introduce more questions on the subject in the new play a sex thing (or, a bunch of liberals getting uptight about the sociopolitical implications of their desires), presented in June as a part of The Brick's F*ckfest.

Opening tonight, June 16, at The Brick, a sex thing follows two couples as they try to get to the bottom of their sexual dysfunctions, hang-ups, and undesirable desires. After years of marriage, Ann and David (Erin Keskeny and Kevin Percival) find that their sexual incompatibility is coming to a head. As org*sms begin to look less like fun and more like a problem to be fixed, they find themselves faced with some interesting questions about the difference between their browser history and what they really want in bed. Meanwhile, Stevie and Alice (Mia Kang and Gwenevere Sisco) have no problem with the org*sms, but not talking about what it takes to get them there proves to be a risky scenario. They struggle with what do when what you want isn't what turns you on and what turns you on isn't what you want.

Both couples find themselves at a f-ing crossroads (or rather, a crossroads about f-ing), and asking some new questions: How can you turn someone on when they're trying super hard not to objectify you? Why are some sexy ideas so unsexy in real life? Are wooden butt plugs safe? and why is it so hard to ask for what we want?
