Marvelous Wonderettes Releases Cast Recording on 11/11

The Marvelous Wonderettes Original Cast Recording will be released by PS Classics, the label dedicated to the heritage ofBroadway and American popular song. The recording session will take place on Thursday,September 18. The CD will be produced by Grammy® Award-winning producer Jeffrey Lesserand is slated for release on November 11.

The Marvelous Wonderettes began performancesat the Westside Theatre on August 29, and had its official Opening Night on Sunday,September 14.Written and directed by Roger Bean, The Marvelous Wonderettes is a cotton-candy colorednon-stop pop musical comedy featuring the iconic sounds of the fifties and beyond. Journey back tothe 1958 Springfield High School prom where the Wonderettes - Betty Jean, Cindy Lou, Missy andSuzy - are four young girls with hopes and dreams as big as their crinoline skirts. Brimming withsuch classic hits as “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” “Lipstick on Your Collar,” “Hold Me,Thrill Me, Kiss Me,” “It’s My Party” and “It’s In His Kiss (The Shoop Shoop Song),” TheMarvelous Wonderettes is an effervescent musical blast from the past.

The New York Times calls The Marvelous Wonderettes, “one irresistible jukebox musical” and“For fanciers of the girl group sound – this is an utter charm.” The Associated Press says, “the funnever stops” while Back Stage exclaims, “Don’t buy a ticket to The Marvelous Wonderettes – buytwo!
