Carolina Actors Studio Theatre (CAST) will be holding an open call audition for the Charlotte premiere of Zastrozzi, the Master of Discipline by George F. Walker directed by Tony Wright.
Auditions will be held on Saturday April 21 from 1 PM - 4 PM at CAST, 2424 No. Davidson St.
Fight choreography begins early May and blocking rehearsals in late May. The show runs from July 20 through August 11. Stage combat or fight training is a plus. Roles available are:
BERNARDO, a villain long on strength and short on imagination. Late 20s - late 40s. Has a rapier and dagger duel.
VEREZZI, a nobleman driven mad, but still has a way with the ladies. Mid 20s - mid 30s. Has a rapier duel.
VICTOR, a tutor and protector to Verrezzi; a former priest, ordinary looking but of strong intellect. Late 20s - late 40s. Has a rapier duel.
JULIA, a beautiful 17 year old aristocrat (actress can be older). Has a hand-to-hand fight over a knife.

About the Director/Fight Choreographer: Tony Wright has trained in fencing and stage combat since the early 1980s, studying with a number of stage combat Fight Masters. Among his many professional credits, Tony has been the Fight Director for the Chicago, Boston and Georgia Renaissance Festivals; the resident Fight Director for the Atlanta Shakespeare Tavern and for the Actor's Gym in Charlotte; and served as the fencing consultant in the film Stars and Bars starring Daniel Day-Lewis. Tony is Certified and Recommended by the Society of American Fight Directors, the Society of British Fight Directors and Fight Directors Canada.
