Directed by Joe Martinez

Magical rooms of candy-making machines, chocolate rivers, and the mysterious Oompa Loompas can only mean one thing….the Missoula Community Theatre is holding auditions for its December holiday production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 12:30pm – 6:30 pm at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts for Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka, a production of the Missoula Community Theatre (200 North Adams Street, Missoula, MT. Please use the Main Street entrance).

About the Play:

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka is a musical play that combines elements of both Roald Dahl's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and of the 1971 movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory with newly-created material. This timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir comes to life in this stage adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Willy Wonka runs a contest in which the five lucky people who find Golden Tickets inside Wonka bars win a tour of the chocolate factory and a lifetime supply of chocolate. As they go through the tour, the temptations abound and some find they can’t resist what’s inside, with calamitous results. Familiar songs include Pure Imagination and The Candy Man, plus many more.

Available Roles:

The show promises to be lots of fun for those in the cast of all ages, the many people working behind the scenes, and those in the audience. There are approximately 30 roles for adults and children. To bring about this fun-filled musical adventure, we seek children over the age of 10 to fulfill the five lead children’s roles, as well as smaller chorus parts; four mature, older adults to portray Charlie’s grandparents; assorted adults to match fun character parts. There are more adult roles than children’s roles in this production.

Requirements, Audition Breakdowns:

Actors with a basic understanding of this scrumdidilyumptious story and film and a hearty sense of humor are encouraged to audition. Children’s auditions take place from 12:30-2:30 pm.; family auditions from 2:30-4:30 pm; adult auditions 4:30-6:30 pm. Auditions are one day only, but special considerations will be made. To schedule an audition appointment, call (406) 728-1911. Performance dates are December 12-15, 18-22, 2013 at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts.
