The Will Rogers Follies

and

Chess

Singers, dancers and children are all encouraged to audition.

The life of the legendary cowboy, entertainer and American folk hero Will Rogers is given the razzle-dazzle treatment in The Will Rogers Follies complete with tap dancing chorus girls, rope-twirling cowboys and a Tony Award-winning score.

Before Mamma Mia! came along, the two composers of the pop group ABBA fashioned Chess, a daring new musical, set at the end of the Cold War, about an international chess match between the Russian champion and a brash American challenger.

Auditions for singers, dancers and children will be held as follows:

• Actor's Equity Association (AEA) members only are invited to audition on Friday, December 9, 2016 between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
• All others, and AEA, are invited to audition on Friday, December 9, 2016 between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
• Children are invited to audition on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon.
• Dancers are invited to audition on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
• Callbacks will be held Monday, December 12, 2016 by invitation only.

All auditions will be held in Room 245 at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre.

• Singers should prepare a classic musical theatre selection, or something in the style of Chess, depending on the show in which they are interested.
• Children should be prepared to sing, and may be asked to stay and dance.
• Dancers should be prepared to dance. Women should bring character shoes.

Rehearsal dates for Chess are February 27 through March 9, 2017; performance dates are March 10 and 11, 2017. PTC Artistic Director Karen Azenberg will direct and choreograph this production.

Rehearsal dates for The Will Rogers Follies are April 10 - May 4, 2017; performance dates are May 5 through May 20, 2017. Guest Director DJ Salisbury will direct and choreograph this production.

Auditioners must come in to sign up on the callboard in Room 325 at the Roy W. and Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. The sign-up sheet will be posted on December 2, 2016.
