BORIS TRIGORIN (Lead) - a famous writer, having been caught up in his own treadmill to success he has let his youthful years slip by. With success he has found new notoriety as an eligible bachelor and he is quite unskilled on how to handle it all. Think Woody Allen at thirty-five. (Age range 30-40)
Dr. EUGENE DORN (Supporting Lead) - the town Doctor, far from a Country Bumpkin, Dorn is quite a ladies' man and is currently having an affair with the wife of the estate's manager. He sings to himself to entertain and/or escape conversations that might be too awkward to otherwise deal with (Age 55 - yes, he actually mentions this in one of his lines)
PAULINA (Supporting Lead) - the wife of Shamraeff, the estate's manager, mother to Masha. She silently suffers her marriage as well as her own jealousies regarding her current affair with Dr. Eugene Dorn. She wishes for a better life but . . . . What can you do? (Age 40-55)
SHAMRAEFF (Supporting Lead) - the manager of the Sorin estate, married to Paulina, and father to Masha. He has a gruff exterior and his own sense of humor (which is generally unappreciated by anyone else). He can be explosive at times, but considering there is something wrong with his marriage it may just as easily be displaced anger but then again nobody really looked at things that way in 1893 . . . (Age 45 - 60)
JACOB (Support) - a worker. The epitome of the household handyman (Age open)
Estate staff (MAID, COOK, WATCHMAN) - will also be assigned other technical duties within the production (Ages open)
