HCCT announces open auditions for
“The Savannah Sipping Society”
The Hill Country Community Theatre is casting the fourth show of their 2019-20 season, the comedy “The Savannah Sipping Society” written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten. Auditions are Monday, February 24 and Tuesday, February 25 at 7:00 PM at the theatre, 4003 W FM 2147, Cottonwood Shores, TX 78657. Sides from the script will be provided at the audition for cold readings. The show will be directed by Wendy Ferrell.
“The Savannah Sipping Society” is a delightful, laugh-a-minute comedy where four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by Fate – and an impromptu happy hour – and decide it’s high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they’ve lost through the years.
The roles are:
Randa Covington (Female, 40 - 50) — High-strung perfectionist and workaholic. She is struggling to cope with a surprise career derailment after losing her job as an architect. Unfortunately it has shown she has no life and no idea how to get one.
Dot Haigler (Female, 60s) — Retired high school French teacher. Still reeling from her husband’s recent demise and loss of their plans for an idyllic retirement. Faces the unsettling prospect of starting a new life from scratch - alone. She is daffy and endearing.
Marlafaye Mosley (Female, 50s) — Earthy and boisterous liquor rep. A good ol’ Texas gal, who has blasted in to Savannah in the wake of losing her tom-cattin’ husband to a 23 year old dental hygienist. The strength of her desire to establish a new life is equaled only by her desire to wreak a righteous vengeance on her ex.
Jinx Jenkins (Female, 30 - 50) — New to town, a spunky ball of fire. Self-confident and gregarious, offers her services as a life coach to the others. However her determination to get their lives on track has blinded her to the fact she is the one most desperate in need of sage advice.
Production dates are for three weeks, April 23 through May 10, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 PM, Sunday matinees at 2:15 PM. For more information, please call the theatre at (830) 693-2474 or send an email to
