Description of the play:
After history professor John Oldman unexpectedly resigns from the University, his startled colleagues impulsively invite themselves to his home, pressing him for an explanation. They're shocked to hear his reason for premature retirement, as he claims he must move on because he is immortal, and cannot stay in one place for more than ten years without his secret being discovered. Tempers rise and emotions flow as John's fellow professors attempt to poke holes in his story, but it soon becomes clear that his tale is as impossible to disprove as it is to verify. What starts out as a friendly gathering soon builds to an unexpected and shattering climax.

Roles:
The following three roles will be cast:
Dan/Dana: Professor of Anthropology. Pedantic. Always has something interesting to say, or a funny anecdote, but one gets the sense his/her mind is adrift.
Harry/Harriet: Professor of Biology. Nerd-like. Is always willing to roll with the punches and just finds joy and humor in everything. Think “Bill Nye” or “Neil Degrasse Tyson” type. The teacher that blows things up in class.
Moving woman: Female (50-70). This is a double role. In the “scripted” part of the show, she appears only once as a feeble older lady. In the second half (an added “talkback” where the actors respond to audience questions as their characters), she will serve as moderator. She needs to have a strong voice/personality, similar to that of a talk show host (think Oprah/Ellen in spirit). Those interested in this role should prepare for some improvisation at auditions.
