Theatre Tuscaloosa will hold auditions for The Hallelujah Girls, a Jones Hope Wooten comedy, March 27th and 28th at 7:00 p.m. in the Wilson Carr Rehearsal Hall on the Martin Campus of Shelton State Community College (9500 Old Greensboro Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405).
In Eden Falls, Georgia, five best gal-pals set out to start a new life by renovating an old church into their dream beauty parlor – the SPA-DEE-DAH! When their arch-rival announces she will stop at nothing to shut them down, the ladies band together to keep their dream alive. Mix in the arrival of a sexy ex-boyfriend, an unexpected marriage proposal, and an unwelcome demolition crew, and you’ve got a side-splitting, joyful comedy that will make you laugh out loud and shout “Hallelujah!”
Roles are available for six female/female-identifying and two male/male-identifying actors ages thirties to sixties. Actors of all races and ethnicities will be considered. A full cast of characters and their descriptions can be found on the Theatre Tuscaloosa website. Those interested in auditioning should be prepared for cold readings from the script and bring a complete calendar of any potential conflicts with the rehearsal schedule. No monologue will be required to audition.
Theatre Tuscaloosa strongly encourages all auditionees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to protect themselves and the integrity of the production. A perusal copy of the script is available to read in the ticket office during normal office hours, Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
The final rehearsal schedule will be announced after casting, but rehearsals are tentatively scheduled to begin on April 3rd and will generally run 7:00-10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday evenings and 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sundays until closer to performance weeks.
The Hallelujah Girls performances run May 26th through June 4th, 2023, in the Bean-Brown Theatre.
