South Bend Civic Theatre announces auditions for “The Boxcar Children” February 27 and March 1.
Audition for a new venture for SBCT – Theatre for Young Audiences at Battell Center in Mishawaka
South Bend Civic Theatre will hold auditions for selected roles in the Theatre for Young Audiences production of “The Boxcar Children” adapted by Barbara Field from the story by Gertrude Chandler Warner.
Adult actors are needed to fill 3 men’s and 3 women’s roles, to play multiple characters. The other child roles will be filled from the South Bend Civic Youth Company students as part of their program of learning to audition and perform. Auditions will consist of readings from the script so no prepared pieces are necessary.
SBCT comes to Mishawaka to present the beloved children’s classic story of four orphans making it on their own. Read by generations of children and the young at heart since first appearing in 1924, this play will remind you of the unshakable bonds of family and the true meaning of home.
Auditions will be held February 27 from 6:30-8 in the Scottish Rite Building across the parking lot from SBCT, and March 1 from 6:30-8 in SBCT’s Warner Studio Theatre, 403 N. Main Street in South Bend.
“The Boxcar Children” will be directed by Jewel Abram-Copenhaver and perform at the Battell Center in Mishawaka May 3-5. The Battell Center is located at 904 N. Main Street in Mishawaka. Tickets are currently on sale at $10 or 4 for $32.
