Also please be prepared to tell a short, funny family story; something your family might tell at a holiday dinner. As time allows you will also need to read from the script.
THE ALTRUISTS revolves around a dedicated, if disorganized and demented, group of young radicals. These are the kids who protest. They protest arts funding and arms funding. They protest school cutbacks and welfare cutbacks. They march for gay rights and children's rights. But one day their morality is put to the test...
Characters:
Ronald:
Late 20's, early 30's; A schlemiel, flamboyant gay social worker
Sydney:
Mid-30's; Ronald's sister, a high-strung, successful soap opera actress
Ethan:
Late 20's- early 30's; Sydney's opportunistic, shallow do-gooder, cheating boyfriend. Sexy, manly.
Cybil:
Late 20's - early 30's; declared lesbian who only seems to sleep with men. Angry revolutionary
Lance:
Early 20's or younger; male hooker, Ronald's new boy toy, very naive.
