Audition Announcement
Table Manners
Auditions: September 20 & 21, 2015
SHOW: Table Manners. 6 adult actors, men and women, ages 18-80 are needed for this hilarious comedy.
A dysfunctional family gathering with farcical consequences.
“Crippling you with laughter that shakes the body and more subversively, fractures the soul.”
—NY Times
Table Manners, Alan Ayckbourn’s award winning comedy, follows the intertwining lives of a group of siblings and their significant others during a weekend in the country. This sidesplitting farce explodes with lust, hysterics, and exasperation as three couples share a weekend in search of love, sex, and the meaning of marriage. A comic feast where chairs and food are scarce, but laughs are served aplenty.
AUDITION DATES: Sunday, September 20 and 21, 2015 at 6:30 pm.
LOCATION: Beijing Playhouse’s auditions and rehearsals for comedy Table Manners are 77 Theatre, a 15 minute walk from the Nanluoguxiang subway station.
ROLE(S): All 6 roles open; all adults, 3 men and 3 women, ages 18-60. Ability to perform in English is required; but English as a native language is not required. Auditions are open and anyone can come. Experienced actors are encouraged. And we love discovering new talent. We request that interested actors complete the Actor Audition Form in advance. It helps the directors. (Request one and we’ll send it to you.)
AUDITION FORMAT: You'll do a live reading from the script and will perform scenes from the show with other actors. Monologues are optional, but not required. If you are a non-native English speaker, we strongly suggest bringing a memorized 30-60 second English monologue.
PAY: This is volunteer fun. We do it for the love of theatre.
PERFORMANCE DATES: Performances are October 30, 31, and November 1, 2015. Rehearsals are weekday evenings 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm (or sometimes 10 pm) and weekends from 2:30 pm to 9:30 pm, October 4-28, 2015, at 77 Theatre, a 15 minute walk from Nanluoguxiang subway. Performances are also at 77 Theatre.
