Actors and Musicians are needed for Bard in the Burbs' upcoming production of Shakespeare in Love: The Play, based on the screenplay by Marc Norman and Tom Stoppard and adapted for the stage by Lee Hall, with music by Paddy Cunneen.
Directed by Peter Lemongelli & Sean Ogren and stage-managed by Michelle Ho.
“Shakespeare in Love: The Play” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.
Auditions are set for Sunday, July 31st and Monday, August 1st from 6:30-9:30 p.m., with callbacks Tuesday, August 2nd @ 6:30 p.m. at: Stacey De & Company, 1946 University Ln, Lisle, IL 60532
Please note that this show is non-equity and there is no pay.
Performances for Shakespeare in Love: The Play will take place from Friday, September 23rd thru Sunday, October 2nd:
· Fridays & Saturdays at 8:00 p.m.
· Sundays at 7:00 p.m.
Rehearsals will begin on Sunday, August 7 and be held four nights a week, Sunday thru Thursday evenings, with one night off depending on availability of the rehearsal space.
Auditions and callbacks will start at 6:30 for all actors and consist of scenes from the play. Sides and an official audition form will be emailed starting one week before auditions. To sign up for auditions:

Nurse (female-identifying, 25-70 years old, any race/ethnicity): Servant to Viola
Lord Wessex (male-identifying, 20-60 years old, any race/ethnicity): Betrothed to Viola
Richard Burbage (all genders, 25-50 years old, any race/ethnicity): Lead actor of the Chamberlain’s Men
Edmund Tilney / Sir Robert de Lesseps (all genders, 35-70 years old, any race/ethnicity): The Lord Chamberlain / Viola’s father
Ned Alleyn (male-identifying, 20-40 years old, any race/ethnicity): Lead actor of the Admiral’s men, plays Mercutio in Will’s play
Ralph (male-identifying, age 20-60, any race/ethnicity): A novice actor, plays Nurse and Petruchio in Will’s plays
John Webster (all genders, 15-25 years old, any race/ethnicity): A street urchin, inspires to be a player
Wabash (male-identifying, 30-70 years old, any race/ethnicity): A novice actor, Henslowe’s stammering tailor

*Based upon casting, various players may also be asked to play other roles such as tavern workers, guards, musicians, and nobles. Oh, and a dog.
