Salt Lake City - Auditions for Pioneer Theatre Company's 2013-2014 season finale dance musical Sweet Charity will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013 from noon to 5:00 p.m. Callbacks will be held on December 13, 2013; times will be announced to auditioners who are called back.
The audition is divided into an open singing call for singer/actors who move from noon to 3:00 p.m.and an open dance call for dancer/actors who also sing from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
The singing call time slots are limited to three minutes. Please prepare a traditional Broadway song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided, but auditioners should bring their own sheet music. The dance call will not involve tap.
Audition slots from noon to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12 are for Actors' Equity members only. Audition slots from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and the dance call from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12 are open to all auditioners.
Above all, Sweet Charity is a dance show. Everyone must at the very least move well. Auditioners should come to the Thursday dance call prepared to move - not only well, but copiously. Singers who can move might be asked to attend the dance call after their three-minute singing audition, instead of or in addition to a call back the next day.
All auditioners must come in to sign up on the callboard in Room 325 at the Roy W. and Elizabeth E. Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. The sign-up sheet will be posted by noon on Thursday, December 5, 2013. A breakdown of major characters will be posted along with the sign-up sheet.
Auditions will be held in Room 245 at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre. All auditioners must be 18 years of age or older. A photo and résumé are recommended. The callback audition will involve reading from the script.
