The ARTx3 Campus is seeking performers for a stylized readers’ theater presentation of “Prometheus Bound,” the classic Greek tale by Aeschylus, in a modern translation by Bryan Doerries.
Auditions are 6-9 p.m. Friday, Jan 24, 2025, at the Adam B. Robinson Jr. Black Box Theater at ART WORKS on Main, 627 S. Main St. Performances are March 13-16, 2025, in the black box theater. Cast members must be available for all performances.
This innovative production reimagines the story of Prometheus—imprisoned for giving humanity the spark of life—as a reflection of the social injustices faced by Black men in America. With themes of courage, resilience, and inequitable justice, this performance aims to create a poignant tribute to the ongoing struggles and triumphs of those who are Black, indigenous, and people of color.
There are seven roles available, plus members of the chorus. Performers must be ages 18 or older. Auditions are in an open, cattle-call format. Performers should complete the form to register and select two sides to read. Registration and sides are at
artx3.org/all-events/prometheus-bound-auditions.
Performers of all levels are welcome; no experience is necessary.
This is a script-in-hand performance that focuses on storytelling and connection with the audience.
“Join us in crafting a unique and unforgettable experience as we use the power of theater to spark important conversations,” said J. Tyler, director of this production.
His previous directing credits include “Puffs” on the ARTx3 Campus and “The Laramie Project” at Little Rock Central High School.
Portia S. Jones is assistant directing. She has performed in numerous productions on the ARTx3 Campus and at the Actors Theatre of Little Rock and The Studio Theatre, also in Little Rock.
