SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre announces May 17-18 auditions for Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “South Pacific”
The SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre announces auditions for the third and final show of its 2016 summer season, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “South Pacific.” It will be directed by Jerry Elison, with music direction by Martha Glissmeyer, choreography by Kristen Bradley and Julie Bonifay will serve as stage manager.
“South Pacific” will play July 29 – August 13 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays @ 8:00pm, and the show will tour to BYU Education for four performances August 16-19.
Auditions will be held Tuesday, May 17 or Wednesday, May 18 from 7:00-9:00pm at SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem. Callbacks, for those invited, will be held Saturday, May 21, and will include a dance audition.
All roles are available, and auditioners ages 16 and older should prepare to sing 16 bars of a musical theatre piece. An accompanist or IPOD playback will be available. New this year, auditions are done by appointment, and you can submit your audition form online and sign up for a time under the Stage tab at
www.scera.org. A resume and headshot is helpful to bring with you, but is not required.
Rehearsals will begin June 6 and will generally be held weekday evenings and Saturdaymornings. A more detailed rehearsal will be given once the cast is finalized. For more information, call (801) 225-ARTS.
