The Mendocino Theatre Company announces auditions for the fifth play of its 2016 season,Sons of the Prophet, directed by Bob Cohen.
Sons of the Prophet is an award winning comedy-drama written by Stephen Karam that was originally commissioned by the prestigious Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City. The action concerns an eastern Pennsylvania family with historical roots in Lebanon. Joseph Douaihy, the main character, is a former athlete whose body is failing him due to an as yet unknown disease. He is joined in the Douaihy family by his younger brother, Charles, and his irascible yet lovable uncle Bill. Other characters include his boss Gloria, a rather unsuccessful book publisher; a reporter named Timothy, who is anxious to get a story about Joseph; and a young high school football player whose prank starts the action. Two additional actresses each play important multiple roles.
Auditions will be held on Monday, May 23rd and Tuesday, May 24th at 6:30pm at the Mendocino Theatre Company on the grounds of the Mendocino Art Center. The director requests that you arrive as close to 6:30 as possible. No appointments are necessary. Auditions consist of reading scenes from the script.
