SCERA Youth Theatre Announces July 27 Auditions for its Shakespeare Competition Team
SCERA Youth Theatre announces auditions for its Shakespeare Competition Team, under the direction of Jen Baker, Brandon Haden and Emily Bennett, which will compete at the Utah Shakespeare Festival Oct. 1-3, 2015.
Auditions for students ages 12-17 will be held on Monday, July 27 from 11:00a-12 Noon at the SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem. No appointment is necessary to audition. For auditions, students should prepare a one-minute Shakespeare monologue of their choice.
The SCERA Shakespeare Competition Team will compete October 1-3, 2015 at the annual statewide Utah Shakespeare Competition in Cedar City, Utah. Students will compete in monologues, duos or trios as well an ensemble scene, and will also have the opportunity to attend professional Shakespeare productions at the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival. The three-day competition tour includes tickets to two Shakespeare productions, food, travel, lodging, official SYT Shakespeare Team apparel, and sightseeing in and around Cedar City, Utah.
Rehearsals for the team will be announced after auditions, but will begin around the first week of September. Shakespeare Team usually rehearses once or twice each week from 4:00-6:00pm.
