Dancers will be performing outdoors and on a variety of performance spaces/floors. Dancers should be comfortable learning choreography and interacting with performers/patrons throughout the show(s). While your primary focus will be as a member of the Revel Grove Dance Company, you also will be part of the ensemble in acting company shows and events, as well as interacting with fellow performers and audience members in our village of Revel Grove, the setting of the festival.
Performance Dates: MDRF runs Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day Monday from August 24th to October 20th. Dancers must be available for all nineteen performance days.
Performance Times: Cast call: 9:30am. Performances scheduled between 10:15am – 5:15pm. Lunch and multiple breaks will be scheduled throughout the day.
Performance Location: The Maryland Renaissance Festival, Crownsville, MD. There is no public transportation to the festival. Dancers must have their own reliable transportation to the site at Crownsville. Ride sharing with fellow performers may be possible but cannot be assumed!
Rehearsals: One meeting on Saturday, June 29th at 10am, then begin in earnest Saturday, July 13th and run until August 22nd.
Rehearsal locations: Imagination Stage in Bethesda and MDRF in Crownsville.
Rehearsals can be scheduled: Monday – Thursday beginning at 7pm. We never rehearse on Fridays. If scheduled on Saturdays or Sundays, it can be between 9:30am – 5pm. Expect 3 rehearsals a week, increasing as we near opening day. Finalized rehearsal schedule by June 1.
Pay: $2575 for nineteen performance dates, $200 rehearsal honorarium included.
AUDITION: Auditions are by invitation only and will be held at Imagination Stage in Bethesda on Saturday, March 23rd from 3pm – 6pm. To apply, please submit a headshot & resume and a dance reel or performance clip to Carolyn Spedden at carolyn@rennfest.com that clearly shows your dance abilities. If you do not have a clip/reel available you may submit a video performing a standard line dance/wedding dance/group party dance in the style of the electric slide, cha cha slide, or cotton eye joe. Videos should be at least 45 seconds long but do not need to exceed three minutes.
