Auditions for the First Play of Mendocino Theatre Company's 2016 Season!
The Mendocino Theatre Company is pleased to announce auditions for Quills, the first play of the 2016 season, which will be directed by Ann Woodhead.
Auditions will be held on Monday, December 14th from 6pm to 8pm and on Tuesday, December 15th from 8pm to 10pm at the Mendocino Theatre Company on Little Lake Rd. in Mendocino. Actors should prepare and memorize a monologue (not from Quills, please) of less than 3 minutes in length. We highly advise those who wish to audition to read the play in advance; perusal copies will be available at the MTC box office after December 1st.
Written by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author Doug Wright, Quills is a fictionalized account of the last days of the Marquis de Sade in the insane asylum of Charenton, just outside Paris. A daring gothic burlesque, the play explores censorship, religion, political corruption, sexual freedom, and the moral responsibility of the artist.
A critically-acclaimed film adaptation, starring Geoffrey Rush and Kate Winslet, was made in 2000.
