Seeking actors for Actors Theatre of Louisville’s Professional Training Company (PTC), a nine-month apprenticeship program and production season.
The PTC is a practical training program that prepares actors for a career in theatre, concentrating on networking and auditioning. It is especially effective for actors who need to sharpen their auditioning skills and gain experience with new plays in order to bridge the gap to a national scale without taking on the long-term commitment of a graduate degree.
The PTC produces a five-show season, focusing entirely on new works, culminating in a fully-produced commissioned piece as part the Humana Festival of New American Plays. Roles and understudies in the theatre’s mainstage season are possible, but not guaranteed. Apprentices will work alongside guest artists as crew members in mainstage performances. The practical and business-based curriculum is applied to an end-of-season showcase for industry professionals.
The Professional Training Company strives to showcase a company of actors representative of the world at large inclusive in, but not limited to, race, gender, sexual orientation, class, religion, national origin, veteran status, political affiliation, or ability. Members of underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
Apprenticeship starts August 1, 2018, and runs through April 26, 2019, in Louisville, KY
