CHILDREN & TEEN AUDITIONS FOR 2015-16 SEASON
Ocean State Theatre Company announces Open Children & Teen Auditions for its 2015-16 productions of It’s a Wonderful Life The Musical, 1776 and The Miracle Worker. Needed are:
It’s a Wonderful Life The Musical:
One male and one female actor/singer, who is no taller than 60”, to play the roles of Pete Bailey and Janie Bailey. Children auditioning should look no older than 8-10 years old and be able to hold their part in multi-part harmony and follow directions. Piano playing, or other instrument, is a plus. Also looking for an understudy.
One male and one female actor/singer, who is no taller than 54”, to play the roles of Tommy Bailey and Zuzu Bailey. Children auditioning should look no older than 5-8 years old and be able to hold their part in multi-part harmony and follow directions. Also looking for an understudy.
Selected children will need to be available for afternoon, evening and weekend rehearsals and performances from November 17 – December 27, 2015
1776:
One very strong male actor/singer to play the role of the Courier, who delivers messages from George Washington to the Congress. Those auditioning should look no older than 16-18 years old and be able to hold their part in multi-part harmony.
One male actor/singer to play the role of Leather Apron, an apprentice to congressional custodian Andrew McNair. Those auditioning should look no older than 15-18 years old and be able to hold their part in multi-part harmony.
Selected actors will need to be available for afternoon, evening and weekend rehearsals and performances fromFebruary 9 – March 13, 2016
The Miracle Worker:
One strong female actress, who is no taller than 54”, to play the role of Helen Keller. Children auditioning should look no older than 6-8 years old. This is a very physically demanding role. Need a very smart actress who can follow direction consistently.
One strong female actress, who is no taller than 56”, to play the role of Martha, a playmate of Helen’s. Children auditioning should look no older than 7-9 years old and be able to follow directions. (This actress will also understudy the role of Helen.)
One strong male actor, who is no taller than 60”, to play the role of Percy, a playmate of Helen’s. Children auditioning should look no older than 7-10 years old and be able to follow directions.
Selected actors will need to be available for afternoon, evening and weekend rehearsals and performances from March 15 – April 17, 2016
Open auditions will be held on Friday, September 11 from 3–6 pm and Saturday, September 12 from 6-9 pm.

Those auditioning should enter through the main lobby doors and bring their headshot or a recent photo and resume (if available). Those interested in being considered for either It’s a Wonderful Life The Musical or 1776, should come with a short prepared song, preferably with sheet music. A cappella is also acceptable. No tape recorders or CD players. Those asked to stay may learn a short dance combination and/or be asked to do cold readings from the script. Please bring or wear appropriate shoes for dancing. Those interested in being considered for The Miracle Worker should be prepared to act out children’s nursery rhymes without using any words. They will also be asked to do cold readings from the script. Sign-up will begin thirty minutes prior to the beginning of each audition (2:30 pm on Friday and 5:30 pm on Saturday). Those auditioning must have signed in no later than thirty minutes before the end of auditions (5:30 on Friday and 8:30 on Saturday)..
