Auditions for the gut-wrenching drama “Misery” will be held at the Des Moines Community Playhouse at 6:30 PM on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017. All auditions are open to the public; no one is pre-cast. Questions about auditions should be directed to Robin Spahr, 515-974-5365.
“Misery” contains roles for 2 men and 1 woman. Performances are Jan. 26-Feb. 11, 2018. Where race, ethnicity, gender, age, or other personal differentiations are not demanded by the script, the Playhouse casts plays without regard to these attributes.
A horrible automobile accident nearly claims best-selling author Paul Sheldon’s life. Luckily, his biggest fan, Annie, is there to save him and nurse him. It doesn’t take long, however, for Paul to realize he is living a nightmare. Completely at Annie's psychopathic mercy, he's unsure if he’ll make it out alive after all. Based on the book by Stephen King, Misery will have audiences on the edges of their seats.
The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US.
