The Arvada Center Announces Workshop Auditions for the New Musical
I’ll Be Home for Christmas
The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for the workshop of the new musical, I’ll Be Home for Christmas at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., on June 6, 2016. The Arvada Center production will be directed by Gavin Mayer with musical direction by David Nehls, choreography by Kitty Skillman Hilsabeck. The Artistic Producer is Rod A. Lansberry.
Audition date and sign up:
Auditions are on June 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., by appointment only. Call the Arvada Center Box Office at
720-898-7200 to schedule an appointment time. Please do not contact the production staff to schedule an appointment. Actors must be 18 years & older to audition. Some roles may be pre-cast.
General Audition Requirements:
Experienced performers with strong acting and singing abilities are needed. See the character breakdown (below) for specifics on available roles. Actors should prepare 16-32 bars from a song appropriate to the style of a 1960’s TV variety show (such as Andy Williams, Perry Como and Judy Garland live Christmas shows), Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Recorded music or a cappella audition will eliminate casting consideration. A current headshot and résumé are required. Audio and video submissions will not be considered. Equity members must have a current equity ID card. This is an Equity Casual contract, non-equity actors will be considered. Individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are needed and encouraged to audition for all roles.
Workshop Rehearsal and Performance Dates:
Rehearsals for the I’ll Be Home for Christmas workshop are June 27, June 28, and June 29, 2016. The Workshop performance will be on June 29th.

Character Breakdown
Dana Bright – 50’s – The Bright, family patriarch. A master entertainer and a great dancer.
Louise Bright – 50’s – The matriarch. A former big band singer and America’s sweetheart.
Simon Bright – 24 – A former teen idol just returned from Vietnam.
Maggie Bright – 18 – A rising musical talent with an eye to the future.
Len Ramble – 30’s/40’s – A country music superstar and rising film star.
Carol Marie – 50’s – A comic genius and wise-cracker from the old school of entertainment.
Ruby – The floor manager for the show. An actor of color.
Sandy Carpenter – 19 – A dancer and singer with a dream. African-American.
