Detailed Character Descriptions
ANDREW RALLY: Age Range: 25-35
A popular TV actor who recently had his show canceled, and has rented an apartment (John Barrymore’s apartment) in New York City. He has been cast as Hamlet and struggles with the complexity of the role. He is handsome, charming, and possesses the polished ease of a television star. Andrew could easily glide through life, wafting on a cloud of good looks and affability, and is accustomed to being the center of attention.
JOHN BARRYMORE (or ghost of John Barrymore): Age Range: 40-60
The legendary stage and screen actor, known for his iconic performance as Hamlet, returns as a ghost to help Andrew Rally with his upcoming portrayal of Hamlet. He is a witty, rakish fellow and should be informed with a wicked, bounding glee. Barrymore has an enormous persona (both on stage and with the ladies) that is both charming and mischievous. He is phenomenally sexual and dashing. The very image of a sly romantic hero.
DEIRDRE MCDAVEY: Age Range 25-35
Deirdre, Andrew’s girlfriend, is the breathless soul of romantic enthusiasm exuding a delicious sense of comic fervor. She is always on the verge of a swoon, yet surprisingly resilient. Dierdre views life as a miracle a minute. She is irresistibly appealing, a Valley girl imagining herself a Bronte heroine.
LILLIAN TROY: Age Range 50-
Lillian is Andrew’s agent. She is a striking, silver-haired woman in her seventies. Lillian speaks with a regal German accent, and has a no-nonsense manner, a wry toughness combined with a delight at any sort of high-jinks.
FELICIA DANTINE: Age range 35-
A tall, imposing woman with a mane of boldly streaked hair. Felicia is a real estate agent, with an almost carnal passion for Manhattan apartments. She speaks in a hoarse, buoyant voice, with a hint of Queens nasality, a jubilant New York honk.
GARY PETER LEFKOWITZ: Age Range 35-
Gary is an extremely happy, overgrown child: an oddly appealing creature of pure appetite with a sense of shameless exuberance. Gary personifies the LA shaggy-chic. The master of hyphenates: writer-director-producer.

Also casting for

The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams
Casting two men ages ( should be able to play 25-35) one female ( should be able to play 45-55)and one female ( should be able to play 20-25)
The Glass Menagerie is the Tennessee Williams' classic and poignant story of a family trapped in a world of illusions and stifled dreams. The drama explores the struggle of a young man's desire to escape life's drudgery and realize his life's dreams; a mother's domineering drive to recreate an Old Southern courtship for her crippled daughter; a gentleman caller whose dreams have long been dashed and covered over with false egoism; and a young lady who tempts imprisonment in her self-made cage filled with glass figurines.

Directed by Tom Salter the production will be the Wetumpka Depot Player's entry to the Alabama Conference on Theatre's Community Theatre Festival in late October. Show dates will be Oct 21-29 with some evening performances and school matinees. Actors auditioning should note that this unique opportunity could possibly extend past the state level to regional ( March 2017) or national competition (June 2017). Please contact the Depot at
