SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre announces May 4-5 auditions for “Footloose: The Musical”

The SCERA Shell Outdoor Theatre announces auditions for the second show of its 2016 summer season, “Footloose: The Musical.” It will be directed and music directed by Jeremy Showgren, with choreography by Tyne Valgardson Crockett. Sarah Thornton will serve as stage manager.

“Footloose” will play July 1-16 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays @ 8:00pm, but there will be no shows on Saturday, July 2 or Monday, July 4.

Auditions will be held Wednesday, May 4 or Thursday, May 5 from 7:00-9:00pm at SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem. Callbacks, for those invited, will be held Saturday, May 7, and will include a dance audition.

All roles are available, and there are great roles for adult men and women, as well as teens and young adults.

Auditioners ages 14 and older should prepare to sing 16 bars of a contemporary musical theatre piece or 16 bars of 80’s rock/pop. Children under the age of 14 may audition only if a family member over the age of 18 is also auditioning.

An accompanist or IPOD playback will be available, but using an accompanist is preferred. New this year, auditions are done by appointment, and you can submit your audition form online and sign up for a time under the Stage tab at
www.scera.org. A resume and headshot is helpful to bring with you, but is not required.

Rehearsals will begin May 11 and will generally be held weekday evenings and Saturdaymornings. A more detailed rehearsal will be given once the cast is finalized. For more information, call (801) 225-ARTS.
