EVERYBODY - Renegade Theatre

Renegade Theatre Company is stoked to announce auditions for Everybody, a play written by
Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. This morality play examines what it means to live, what it means to die, and the journey in between. It is a modern adaptation of the 15th-century
morality play
Everyman, one of the first recorded plays in the English language. The play features the unique casting quirk of using a lottery system to define the roles of the play. Each actor must memorize the entire script and be prepared to play any role. This is meant to symbolize the randomness of death.

A Glimpse Into Our Interpretation

Everybody lives. Everybody dies. Everybody does some stuff in between. Audiences will see a different variation of the same piece due to the use of a lottery system to choose which actors play which roles. We will be exploring the use of Anne Bogart’s Viewpoints throughout the rehearsal process to empower the actors to experiment with their bodies and impulses in space. Relying on minimal production design, this requires dedicated, physically driven actors to learn the many roles they may play. Everybody will be staged in the round and it will be an immersive experience. – Hailee Zuniga, Director

CAUSE WE’RE SUPPORTING -

As with all of our productions, a portion of proceeds will be donated to a cause we believe in. For this production, we’re raising funds in support of
Equitable Dinners Atlanta, a collaborative partnership of

Out of Hand Theater,

The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, the

Fulton County Remembrance Coalition and many other community partners. Launched by a short one person play, Equitable Dinners invites everyone into a shared experience of the pains and the joys of life. Participants are then guided in a facilitated conversation and share together how they can make a positive difference. Guests leave with a deeper connection with others, hopeful about the future and their role in it. We support having important, sometimes difficult conversations, to the make the world a better place.
