The Story:
Young, orphaned, and a refugee in a foreign land, things seem like they couldn’t get much worse for Hadassah. Then her guardian Mordecai brings home the news that the King of Persia–Xerxes–has decided to divorce his queen and will have his pick of the ladies of the land for his new queen. It might seem like the opportunity of a lifetime, but for Hadassah, who has to change her name to Esther, things take a darker turn.
An evil, scheming prince wants to destroy not only her beloved guardian, but wants to wipe out her entire people group, in a BC-era genocide attempt that rivals the ruthless mindset of Hitler.
In the events that follow, the story moves at such a breathless pace and circumstances align in such a way that Esther sees her purpose and concludes she was placed in her unique role for “such a time as this.”
This musical is very true to the Hebrew feel of the story both in text, and music which is a rarity in modern musical theatre.
The auditions are posted as Facebook events, if you would try join them so that they know who will be there on each day, that would be much appreciated by the director.
