LAKEWOOD THEATRE COMPANY TO HOLD AUDITIONS FOR

ELF THE MUSICAL

AUGUST 7 & 8, 2021

Lakewood Theatre Company will be having open auditions for Elf the Musical SATURDAY, AUG 7th and SUNDAY, AUG 8th. Sign up online to secure an audition appointment

Elf is directed by Michael Snider. The musical director is Cyndy Ramsey-Rier and the Choreography is by Terry Brock.

The directors are casting actors ages 14 – adult. All roles are open and all receive remuneration. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition. For a breakdown of roles, please

Callbacks, if needed, will be held on Monday, August 9, 6:30-9:30 PM and possibly Wednesday, Aug 11th.

Audition Location: Lakewood Theatre Company at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.

Materials Needed: Please secure an audition appointment online and list all conflicts between September 7 – December 19, 2021. Please email a resume and head shot to
bio@lakewood-center.org and bring both to your audition appointment. Please prepare 32 bars (approx. 1 minute) from an up-tempo Broadway song (no Andrew Lloyd Webber or Sondheim please). You MAY be asked to sing a ballad as well. Please make sure your song is in the correct key for your voice. An accompanist will be provided. Please, no recorded music or a cappella singing. Also note: you may be asked to sing from the score at the audition.

Dance auditions: Tap and Jazz are required to be considered for the chorus dance/ musical numbers, but not all main roles are required to tap. Please prepare 8 counts of 8 of tap to an upbeat swing version of “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” to be considered for tap numbers. A link to the song is available on

The dance audition will be held at 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Plan to come before OR after your audition appointment time for group dance audition on your audition day. Allow approximately 1 hour for the dance audition and bring tap and jazz shoes.

Rehearsals: Rehearsals are scheduled to begin after Labor Day, the week of September 7, and continue weeknights 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM, and also on either Saturdays or Sundays, noon – 5 PM. A final schedule will be determined after the first cast meeting.

Performance Schedule: Elf opens November 5, 2021 and continues through December 19, 2021. Performances are Thurs-Sat at 7:30 PM, Saturdays & Sundays, at 2:00 PM and two Wednesday performances at 7:30 PM. Lakewood Theatre Company features an intimate 220-seat theatre located at Lakewood Center for the Arts, 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego.

About the Musical: A title familiar the world over, Elf The Musical is easily becoming an annual holiday tradition. Based on the cherished 2003 New Line Cinema hit, Elf. The stage production features songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar (The Wedding Singer) and Chad Beguelin (Disney's Aladdin on Broadway), with a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Bob Martin (The Drowsy Chaperone).

The Story: Buddy, a young orphan, mistakenly crawls into Santa's bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
