Disney’s The Little Mermaid is directed by Maxwell Schaeffer, with music direction by Brenton Brown and choreography by Megan Helmers. The Little Mermaid contains roles for 10 men and 2 women, ages 16 and up, plus an ensemble of men, women, boys, and girls, ages 8 and up. Performances are Dec. 1-23, 2017, with school matinees Dec. 11-12. Where race, ethnicity, gender, age, or other personal differentiations are not demanded by the script, the Playhouse casts plays without regard to these attributes, and actively encourages participation by all members of the community.
Ariel may have fins, but she wants nothing more than to leave her kingdom under the sea. After saving Prince Eric from a storm at sea, she knows she’s in love and her father will never understand. But when Ariel makes a deal with Ursula, the evil sea witch, to experience the life she's dreamed of, things go terribly wrong. Disney's The Little Mermaid is based on the book by Hans Christian Anderson and the Disney animated movie.
