Annie:
Must be able to appear age 11.
Female. Energetic and optimistic orphan who never gives up hope that better days are ahead. Sings “Maybe” and “Tomorrow”. (Voice Range: Low A to High F.) VERY STRONG SINGER/ACTRESS. Must be able to sing, act, and dance.
Oliver Warbucks:
Must be able to appear age 40-65, Male. A powerful billionaire, who always has his mind on business, but has a kind heart looking for someone to love. Sings “Something Was Missing” and “I Don’t Need Anything But You”. (Vocal Range: Baritone to a high F.) Must be able to sing and act. Move a little.
Grace Farrell: Must be able to appear age 25-35, Female. Loyal and intelligent private secretary to Oliver Warbucks. She brings Annie and Warbucks together. Sings “I think I’m Gonna Like It Here”, “NYC”, “You Won’t Be an Orphan For Long” and “I Don’t Need Anything But You”. (Vocal Range: Soprano to high G). Must be able to sing, act and dance.
Miss Hannigan:
Must be able to appear age 35-55, Female. Incredible character/comedic actress needed. Desperate and unhappy with her lot in life, she is the alcoholic orphanage matron who is Annie’s nemesis. Sings, “Little Girls” and “Easy Street”. (Vocal Range: Alto A to D) Must be able to sing and act. Move well.
Lily St. Regis:
Must be able to appear age 20-35, Female. Shady, floozy girlfriend of Rooster. Sings “Easy Street”. (Vocal Range: Soprano up to a high G) Must be able to sing, act, and dance.
Rooster:
Must be able to appear age 20-45. Male. Character actor who can play a limber, slimey con artist. He also plays Mr. Mudge, a simple man to con Warbucks. Miss Hannigan’s greedy and dishonest brother. Sings “Easy Street” (Vocal Range: Tenor to high G). Must be able to sing, act, and dance.
Roosevelt:
Age 40-65, Male. The President of the United States of America, who takes an immediate liking to Annie and her optimism. Must be able to imitate Teddy Roosevelt and be able to sing and act. Sings “Tomorrow Reprise” and “New Deal For Christmas.” (Vocal Range: Baritone).
Supporting Youth
Duffy:
Female. The oldest girl in the orphanage. Sings “It’s A Hard Knock Life”, “Never Fully Dressed Reprise”, and “New Deal For Christmas.” (Voice Range: Low A to High F). Must be able to sing, act, and dance.
July:
Female. The quietest girl in the orphanage. Sings “It’s A Hard Knock Life”, “Never Fully Dressed Reprise”, and “New Deal For Christmas.” (Voice Range: Low A to High F) Must be able to sing, act, and dance.
Kate:
The second to youngest orphan. Sings “It’s A Hard Knock Life” and “Never Fully Dressed Reprise”, and “New Deal For Christmas.” (Voice Range: Low A to High F) Must be able to sing, act, and dance.
Molly:
Female. One of the youngest orphans. Sings “It’s A Hard Knock Life”, “Never Fully Dressed Reprise”, and “New Deal For Christmas.” (Voice Range: Low A to High F) Must be able to sing, act, and dance.
Pepper:
Female. The toughest girl in the orphanage. Sings “It’s A Hard Knock Life” and “Never Fully Dressed Reprise”, and “New Deal For Christmas.” (Voice Range: Low A to High F) Must be able to sing, act, and dance.
Tessie:
Female. This is the crybaby of the orphanage. Sings “It’s A Hard Knock Life”, “Never Fully Dressed Reprise” and “New Deal For Christmas.” (Voice Range: Low A to High F) Must be able to sing, act, and dance.
Special Individual/Ensemble Roles
Bert Healy: Must be able to appear age 30-60, Male. A popular radio announcer. Sings “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”. (Vocal Range: Tenor to F#) also in ensemble.
Lt. Ward: Must be able appear 20-60, Male. NYPD officer who is suspicious of Annie. Sing and move well. Also in ensemble.
Boys/Mens Chorus:
Townspeople of all ages who appear in “Hooverville” and “NYC” , and more numbers.
Orphan Chorus:
9-14 Female. “New Deal For Christmas.” and more. (Voice Range: Low A to High F) Must be able to sing, act,and dance.
Bundles McCloskey:
Must be able to appear age 20-60, Male. The laundry man who flirts with Ms. Hannigan and aids Annie’s attempt to escape. Also in ensemble. Sing and move well.
Jimmy Johnson:
Must be able to appear age 20-55, Male. Silly radio personality on Bert Healy’s radio show. Also in ensemble. Sing and move well.
Fred McCracken: Must be able to appear age 20-55, Male. Puppet wrangler. Uses a dummy on Bert Healy’s radio show. Baritone. Also in ensemble. Sing and move well.
The Lovely Boylan Sisters:
(Connie, Ronnie, Bonnie) Must be able to appear ages 20-40, Female. Singing group that sing back up to Bert Healy. Must be able to sing well and harmonize.(Vocal Range: Requires 1 Alto, 1 First Soprano, 1 Second Soprano.) Also in ensemble. Sing and move well.
Harold Ickes:
Must be able to appear age 20-60, Male. An associate of President Roosevelt. (Must be able to sing harmony.) Also in ensemble. Sing and move well.
Perkins:
Must be able to appear age 20-60, Male or Female. An associate of President Roosevelt. (Vocal Range: Baritone or Soprano) Also in ensemble. Sing and move well
Hull:
Must be able to appear age 20-60, Male or Female. An associate of President Roosevelt. (Must be able to sing harmony.) Also in ensemble. Sing and move well.
Morganthau:
Must be able to appear age 20-60, Male or Female. An associate of President Roosevelt. (Must be able to sing harmony.) Also in ensemble. Sing and move well.
Louis Howe:
Must be able to appear age 20-60, Male. An associate of President Roosevelt. (Must be able to sing harmony.) Also in ensemble. Sing and move well.
Star to Be:
Must be able to appear age 16-25, Female. Aspiring Broadway actress who sings during NYC. Mezzo. BIG BELT NEEDED. Very charismatic, tons of energy, and hopeful. Also in ensemble. Sing and move well.
Adult Chorus: Age 16 and up. Male and Female. Townspeople who appear in “Hooverville”, “NYC”, and may appear as servants at Warbuck’s Mansion. Must be able to sing, act, and dance. Additional songs may include “I think I’m Gonna Like it Here”, “You Won’t Be An Orphan For Long”, “I Don’t Need Anything But You” and “New Deal For Christmas.”
