About The Human Race Theatre Company

The Human Race Theatre Company is a professional theatre that works under a Small Professional Theatre Contract (SPT 6) and performs in the Loft Theatre, a 212-seat thrust stage.

• Rehearsals are primarily Monday – Friday evenings, and daytime on weekends.
• Auditions are open to Non-Equity and Equity Actors (unless otherwise noted), with Non-Equity actors having the opportunity to join the Equity Membership Candidacy Program.
• We are looking for age-appropriate actors.
• All roles open to all gender identities and ethnicities.

• GROUNDED : The role of The Pilot has been cast.
• WHO’S HOLIDAY!: The role of Cindy Lou Who has been cast.
• INDIGO: The roles of Emma and Elaine have been cast.

PROCEDURES FOR AUDITIONS:

DAYTON- Generals:

• Plays only: Come prepared two contrasting contemporary 1.5 minute monologues.
• Musical only: Come prepared with 32 bars each of two contrasting contemporary musical theatre pieces.
• Plays and Musicals: Come prepared with BOTH requirements listed above.

You will be auditioning for Emily Wells and Tara Lail.

IMPORTANT SAFETY PROTOCOLS:

Per Actors’ Equity Association, ALL auditionees and casting personnel MUST:

1. Requirement for proof of vaccination/negative test.

Show proof of full vaccination. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.

OR

Proof of a negative PCR test result taken no earlier that 48 hours prior to entry into the audition venue

OR

Proof of two negative antigen test results (e.g., the first taken the night before and the second taken no less than 2 hours) prior to entry into the venue.

2. Two-ply cloth face masks, surgical masks, singer’s masks and respirators (N95, KN95 or KF94) will be allowed for face coverings. Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not acceptable face coverings. Everyone in the holding and audition areas will always wear a face covering as described above, except for the actor when they are actively auditioning. The time spent unmasked should be as minimal as possible. Face coverings must be worn correctly (covering the nose and mouth).

3. If the risk level for Montgomery County/Dayton, Ohio is trending upwards and may rise to High (Red) we will contact auditionees with appointments at least 24 hours before the first audition appointment time to let them know there is a chance the auditions may need to be postponed or cancelled. All auditionees with appointments will be notified if the auditions must be postponed or cancelled.

4. We encourage auditionees to prepare for their audition at home, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/makeup, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms.

5. AEA members must present their AEA membership card as proof of membership.
