What do you get when you cross Mama's Family, Gunsmoke and Texas Chainsaw Massacre? It's Jane Martin's hilarious "B Western Horror Flick for Stage" Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage. Ensemble Arts will present the New Orleans premiere of the farce August 14-30 at the Nims Black Box Theatre at NOCCA, located at 2800 Chartres Street.

Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets are $20. For reservations, call (504) 470-5859 or visit www.ensembleartsnola.com.

Directed by AnDrew Elliott, the production features Mary Pauley, Latricia Huston, Molly E. Maginnis, Ben Clement, Michael Sullivan and Leon Contavesprie, with senic and lighting design by Stephen Thurber and costume design by Kelly James-Penot

Beginning with the breakfast scene where former Rodeo Queen Big 8 serves bacon, eggs, and Bud Light, Flaming Guns of the Purple Sage, proves a solid anecdote for gloom and doom. Through a loveable cast of twisted characters, playwright Jane Martin spoofs rodeo queens, bad guys, true love and grotesque crime.
