Making the most out of my last semester in college!
Hello everyone!
I hope you have all had a good start to this year. This is my last semester before I graduate! School started back up about a month ago, and I think it's going pretty well. Today I want to share some of my goals for this semester, and for after graduation.
Most of these goals are going to be related to theatre. I'd love to listen to more cast albums and really figure out who my favorite composers are. Recently, I've been interested in the works of Jason Robert Brown and Maury Yeston, so I definitely want to listen to more musicals that they have written.
I have recently been interested in musicals that were inspired by books or plays. My library has a ton of these books, and it has been a lot of fun to compare books with their musical counterparts, to learn about what kind of changes were made and why. Currently, I am reading "I Am A Camera", the play which served as inspiration for the musical "Cabaret".
Back in high school I used to visit the library and look at old yearbooks, and I learned a lot about everyday life from reading them. This week, I'm going back to visit that library so that I can see those books again, because I find it fascinating to learn about my school's history, and the history of the town I live in. If you are interested in the history behind your school or town, I'll be writing more about how to research local history in the future.
Once you get closer to the end of school, it's common to lose motivation when it comes to homework and studies. The most important thing for me is to stay on top of my work and chores, so that I'm not saving every assignment until the last minute and then stressing out over finals.
Not much to explain here; I have been fortunate to work at my school and not having to drive back and forth between classes. I've been saving money for a while now, and I'm hoping to buy my first car when it gets closer to summertime.
There are so many great theaters around me that put on plenty of fabulous productions each year. I hope that I can get involved with at least one of them, because community theater is a great way to meet new people and improve musicianship.
I'm looking forward to seeing what this last semester has in store for me, and I'm excited for what will come my way after I graduate. I hope you all have a fun, exciting semester, and that you accomplish any goals you may have!
