Finals week at the University of Connecticut has come and gone. My experience was still stressful, as it usually is, but more manageable than the semesters prior because of my lighter workload. Without further ado, here is a brief recap of my finals week.

During this finals week, I had a very light workload. I had a final essay for my Gender and Globalization class that was due at the beginning of the week, and one exam later in the week for my Introduction to American Studies class. On top of that, I also had to balance my schoolwork with my part-time job, where I picked up extra hours.

My essay was a lengthy assignment, requiring me to pick an overarching topic and write about it while incorporating other materials, such as class readings, videos, and other outside sources. Even though I procrastinated too much on the essay, I still finished it with a little time to spare.

On the other hand, my exam required a lot of studying and preparation. This class required me to read multiple historically-based stories throughout the semester, and we were being examined solely on those texts. I spent the entire day before rewriting my notes and summarizing the required readings. On the day of, I spent the first half of the day rewriting more notes and taking occasional study breaks before the exam. I was studying in the library, and they provided therapy dogs for students to take a study break and unwind. I relaxed with the therapy dogs during my study breaks.

Thankfully, I did well enough on both assignments to successfully pass my classes. The work was definitely worthwhile and fulfilling in the end, and I feel that I learned a lot of useful information. For those of you who experienced your first finals season last semester, I’m proud of you for getting through it!
