Bill Bowers one-man show, It Goes Without Saying at Hamilton Stage in Rahway will captivate you; a moving performance that will make you laugh and touch your heart. Bowers is a mime, a mime that also speaks to his audience and delivers a fascinating life's story. It is a show that you will stay with you long after Mr. Bowers takes his bow.

It Goes Without Saying is presented by American Theater Group (ATG), New Jersey' newest professional theater. It will be staged in Rahway for two consecutive weekends from February 27th through March 8th. Written by Bowers, he developed it with Director, Martha Banta. This 75 minute performance is intended for audience members, ages 14 and up.

Bill Bowers is a Broadway Veteran who has earned international acclaim for his work as a performer. Bowers has appeared on Broadway in The Lion King and The Scarlet Pimpernel, on the stages of Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden and The Kennedy Center.

With simple, effective staging, Bowers recounts his life's journey, one that started as a child in Skunk Hollow "under the big Montana sky." Bowers is an accomplished mime, drawing his art from the silence he knew as a child, in both his personal and natural surroundings. Clever anecdotes about family, neighbors and schooling weave a story about his creativity and a spirit to succeed.

Perhaps some performers would be discouraged by being an Easter Bunny mime at Menlo Park Mall or "Seatbelt Man" on the New Jersey Turnpike. Yet, Bowers is humorous about his work and said that the recurring theme of his job was "wearing a lot of tights." And, for a time he made his living traveling around as America's Health Hero, "Slim Goodbody."

Bowers also shares some intense, intimate moments; an adolescent affair, the AIDS epidemic of the 1980's and the loss of his beloved partner Michael to a devastating illness. His sensitivity and insight reflect the finest elements of humanity.

Having studied with Marcel Marceau, Bowers physical imagery is artful. His personal discussions are heartfelt and real. In his brilliant performance of It Goes Without Saying, Bowers stated, "A lot about being a mime is being a collector of images." And, we are so fortunate to be able to share those images with him.
