Alliance Repertory Ensemble's production of Jane Martin's Anton in Show Business is currently being performed at the Edison Valley Playhouse. Directed by Michael Driscoll and produced by Carol Zambell, talented performers and theater professionals have come together to provide top notch entertainment for the community. With an all-female cast of 7 playing a total of 15 roles, including male roles, the actresses in this cast have the much needed versatility to accomplish this outstanding production.

In the tradition of great backstage comedies, Anton in Show Business conveys the joys, pains and absurdities of "putting on a play. Three aspiring actresses are cast in a production of Chekhov's, The Three Sisters to be performed in Texas. The ensuing situations are alternatively funny and sad; the women in this production perform their roles seamlessly. The "three sisters" are Kristina Hernandez as Holly, Elizabeth Belonzi playing Casey and Nina Marti as Lisabette. The cast is rounded out by Gloria Lamoureaux, Mary Sullivan, and Alzie Rejouis deftly playing multiple roles. Jennifer Robbins plays the pretentious critic, Joby. The staging is simple and effective allowing the audience to focus on the unique situations and dialogues.

The Edison Valley Playhouse is located at 2196 Oak Tree Road in Edison. The quaint theater seats 75 and Anton in Show Business is perfectly suited to the intimate setting. It will run through Saturday, October 26th with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 pm. There is a matinee on Sunday, October 20th at 2:00pm and a Thursday, October 24th show at 8 pm. For reservations, call (908) 755-4654.
