Television audiences voted him Best Supporting Actor on a Soap Opera in Venezuela, 2014, for his participation in Cosita Linda. Guadalupe in the Guestroom marks his debut at Two River Theater.
Guadalupe in the Guest Room tells the story of two people, with nothing in common but a shared grief, who bond in the most unexpected ways. The play is a deeply moving and very funny celebration of life, new beginnings, and the healing power of telenovelas.
Hereca was born and raised in Mexico and moved to the United States when he was in his 20's. He currently splits his time between New York and Miami.
Huereca told us when he first became interested in theater and film. "I was always in awe of the performing arts." He recalled his fascination for one of the first movies he ever saw. "I saw Tarzan in black and white when I was about 5 years old with my older brothers. I thought it was amazing."
When asked about his mentors, Huereca readily spoke about his family. He said they encouraged his love for the arts. His mother was instrumental in his involvement and made sure that he participated in cultural activities at school.
Huereca said, "My mother was my first acting coach. We would read poetry together and I would memorize passages to recite."
We asked Huereca to tell us a little about his role as Roberto in the upcoming show. "Roberto is an individual who is a survivor within the realm of the story. He comes into the story knowing that people can deal with the departure of life and he encourages others to be at ease with difficulty. He understands grief because his beloved wife died and he has been able to move on."
Huereca commented about his positive experience at TRT. "The cast and the creative team are new to me. The people I have met and worked with are very nice and really friendly. They have wanted to be sure that the actors have an opportunity to dedicate themselves to the upcoming show."
Huereca has some exciting plans for the future and he told us about one of his current projects. "I have written a film adaptation of my play, Cadena Perpetua, which will soon go into production"
