You know the deal, every year on the second day of February we eagerly await the appearance of a groundhog named Phil. As he makes his grand entrance we clamor with anticipation, eyes peering all about him in search of Phil’s all-knowing shadow. If we do see his shadow, we are in for six more weeks of miserable, cold winter. If we do not see his shadow, however, we are bequeathed an early spring… But what happens if Phil doesn’t show? Over the years Phil has grown to despise Groundhog Day, and this year he has finally reached his breaking point. This year for Groundhog Day, instead of doing what everyone else wants him to do, Phil is going to do what he wants to do because, after all, it is The Groundhog’s Day.
This workshop production, performed by kids and for kids, is the culmination of 5 weeks of rehearsals focused on collaboration and the creative process.
