Theatre in the Round Players (TRP) presents Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare to open its 58th season as the longest-running theatre in Minneapolis. The show performs on weekends September 11 through October 4, featuring a Thursday performance October 1. (Editors: See calendar on back for specific dates and times).

Love and courtship are the targets in this rollicking romance, presided over by the sparring, wise-cracking Beatrice and Benedick -- who have both sworn never to marry. Returning war heroes, mischievous brothers, sweethearts-in-waiting, and a bumbling constable lead a parade of characters who scheme their way through one of Shakespeare’s most popular and lighthearted comedies, set against a backdrop of 1950s Italy.

Craig Johnson directs a 20-member cast, featuring Wade A. Vaughn as Benedick, Amanda Whisner as Beatrice, and Tim Jopek as Dogberry. Sets and lighting are designed by Michael Hoover and costumes by Carolann Winter, with music composed by Dietrich Poppen. A discussion with director Johnson and members of the company will follow the matinee performance on Sunday, September 27th.

Tickets are $20, with discounts for seniors and a student price of $10 on Fridays and Sundays. For information, call the theatre's box office at 612-333-3010 or visit its website at www.TheatreintheRound.org.
