The recent momentum by same-sex marriage proponents in numerous states across the country heightens anticipation of the upcoming Guthrie Theater speaking engagements by former New York Times theater critic and current op-ed columnist Frank Rich and Lambda Legal executive director Kevin M. Cathcart. Rich is scheduled to speak about the intersection of arts, culture and politics on Monday, May 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wurtele Thrust Stage, while Cathcart -- speaking in the Dowling Studio on Saturday, May 23 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, May 24 at 7 p.m. -- will offer two intimate discussions on the movement to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and people with HIV.
