The Bloomington Art Center and Bloomington Civic Theatre (BCT) are pleased to announce the transition of the Gallery Theatre Company, the theater program at the Bloomington Art Center, to the Bloomington Civic Theatre.

“We are excited to be able to take the reins of this quality, community theatrical program and continue its legacy of a wide range of plays that have appealed to our community over its long history,” said John Schlagel, President of the Board of Directors of the Bloomington Civic Theatre.

At the same time, the Bloomington Art Center will begin to expand its Education Program to include a wider range of theatrical classes for youth.  It will initiate instruction for the stage beginning with its 2009 summer art camps combining the talent and experience of its current instructors with that of the company of the Bloomington Civic Theatre.

“This new relationship comes about as the result of some very thoughtful and strategic discussions by our board,” said Diana Herman, President of the Board of Directors of the Bloomington Art Center.  “This move plays to the strengths of both organizations resulting in a huge benefit for our community.  We want to focus and expand our Education Program and are thrilled that the Gallery Theatre Company will continue the tradition of community theater here in Bloomington.”

The Bloomington Civic Theatre will present the Gallery Theatre Company 2009 – 2010 season in the Bloomington Center for the Arts Black Box Theater.

Wait Until Dark - September 25 – October 25, 2009
