RAGTIME And NUTCRACKER Among MCFTA's 2009/10 Season

A brand new season of theatre, music and dance is coming to Midland Center for the Arts. The new MCFTA 2009-2010 season subscription brochure has just been published and it features six exciting new subscription packages designed to appeal to a wide range of preferences and budgets. Copies of the brochure are being mailed to select area households and are also available at the Center.

Subscription sales are underway and offer a savings of up to 28% over single ticket prices, plus best available seating before public tickets sales, which start August 17, 2009.

Subscriptions can be purchased at the Ticket Office in person, by phone at 631-8250, 800-523-7649; or by fax at 631-7890. Online subscription sales are not available at this time. Ticket Office hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Season highlights include:

Pilobol – For over 30 years this ensemble of playful whimsical dancers, known for their innovative combination of acrobatics and dance, have delighted audiences as they move in unbelievable ways! Presented by Matrix: Midland

Ragtime - The Musical -  Celebrate the triumph of the American spirit with this multi-Tony Award-winning musical homage to our society’s “melting pot.”  Directed by Rodger Henderson. Presented by Music Society

Nutcracker - the Grand Rapids Ballet Company’s Nutcracker comes to the Center stage, with the Midland Symphony Orchestra performing Tchaikovsky’s timeless score.

Duck Hunter Shoots Angel - The hilarious story by Mitch Albom (Tuesdays with Morrie) of two bumbling brothers who have never shot a duck before but think they shot an angel. A wonderful comedy with a heartfelt message! Presented by Theatre Guild

To The Planets & Beyond – Narrated Shakespeare texts and video images from space accompany Holst’s masterpiece performed by the Midland Symphony Orchestra.
