Mix And Mingle With Celebrities At The Ilitch Charities One Team, One Community Gala And Celebrity Golf Classic On 8/29 And 8/31

On August 29 and August 31, 2009, Ilitch Charities will hold a gala and Celebrity Golf Classic to benefit four noted nonprofit organizations in metro Detroit. Both events will give metro Detroiters the rare opportunity to meet and mingle with top sports figures and entertainment celebrities. Sports legends such as Bill Laimbeer, Vinnie Johnson and Lance Parish are expected to participate, along with up-and-coming athletes such as 2008 Olympic gold medalist Peter Vanderkaay. In addition, entertainment celebrities such as actors Dave Coulier and Steve Blackwood plan to join guests at the events.

“It’s a critical time to support charitable programs that help our friends and neighbors in need,” said Ilitch Charities Chairman Christopher Ilitch, who is also president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings, Inc. “We’ll be supporting our community while having a great time at the gala and out on the golf course.”

The events will raise funds for four nonprofit groups that make a measurable impact on Ilitch Charities’ key areas of focus, including community development, human services, education and recreation. The beneficiaries include:
·        2-1-1 On the Go!
·        Detroit Symphony Orchestra
·        Focus: HOPE
·        Mosaic Youth Theatre

The One Team, One Community Gala will kick off the festivities on Saturday, August 29 at MotorCity Casino Hotel’s Sound Board in Detroit. Guests can meet and socialize with celebrities while enjoying live music and delicious foods created by MotorCity Casino Hotel’s elite culinary team. Silent and live auctions will feature unique memorabilia and fabulous experience packages.

A limited number of gala tickets are still available at $250 for single seats or $2,000 for a table of ten. The event begins at 6 p.m. (note: gala guests do not have to have a ticket to the golf classic)

The Ilitch Charities Celebrity Golf Classic will take place on Monday, August 31 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich. This fun-filled event offers participants the opportunity to golf at one of the area’s premier courses with a participating celebrity. Breakfast, lunch and a cocktail reception are included, as well as contests, awards and a unique gift package.

Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start. A limited number of golf spots are still available.
